NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT AN INITIAL STUDY/ NEGATIVE DECLARATION FOR THE ANTONE DAM REMOVAL AND MEADOW RESTORATION PROJECT Date: December 3, 2019 The California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) has prepared and intends to adopt a Negative Declaration for the proposed Antone Dam Removal and Meadow Restoration Project, in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and State CEQA Guidelines. DPR is the lead agency for the proposed project under CEQA. PROJECT LOCATION: The Project is located at Burton Creek State Park, just north of Tahoe City in Placer County, California. Antone Meadows is located along Burton Creek in the northwest area of the park. The dam is located at the downstream end of the meadow, where a pipe diverts the streamflow. The project area encompasses approximately 0.9 acre of the lower Antone Meadows, in Section 25 T 16N R 16E. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT: DPR proposes to remove Antone Dam and restore geomorphic function and form to the meadow and channel. The project would remove the concrete dam, reconstruct the floodplain and revegetate the meadow. PUBLIC REVIEW PERIOD: The Initial Study/Negative Declaration is being circulated for public review and comment for a period of 30 days, beginning December 3, 2019 and ending January 7, 2020.
