NOTICE OF CURRENT PROPERTY TAXES DUE Made pursuant to Section 2609, Revenue and Taxation Code Tina M. Vernon, Nevada County Treasurer and Tax Collector, hereby announces that regular secured tax bills will be mailed on or before November 1, 2019 to all property owners, at the addresses shown on the tax roll. If you own property in Nevada County and do not receive a tax bill by November 10th, 2019 contact the tax collector's office at (530)265-1285. Bills may also be viewed or printed from the website at https://www.mynevadacounty.com/348/Treasurer-Tax-Collector. FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL DOES NOT RELIEVE THE TAXPAYER OF THE RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE TIMELY PAYMENTS. (Rev. & Tax Code 2610.5) The FIRST INSTALLMENT of the 2019-20 taxes are due and payable on November 1, 2019 and will become delinquent if not postmarked or paid by 5p.m. December 10, 2019; thereafter a 10% penalty will be applied. The SECOND INSTALLMENT is due on February 1, 2020 and will become delinquent if not postmarked or paid by 5 p.m. on April 10, 2020; thereafter a 10% penalty will be added plus a $10 cost to prepare the delinquent tax records and to give notice of delinquency. If December 10 or April 10 falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday no penalty will be charged if payment is received by 5:00 p.m. on the next business day. BOTH INSTALLMENTS MAY BE PAID when the first installment is due. Payments may be made by mail and sent to P.O. Box 128, Nevada City, CA 95959-0128. Mailed payments must be POSTMARKED BY THE DELINQUENT DATE to avoid late penalties. If mailing close to the delinquent date, we highly recommend a HAND STAMPED POSTMARK to ensure timely payment.
